I urge you- Pray!
Prayer is the most powerful spiritual tool and weapon that God has given to us. In fact, it supersedes the most powerful force in the world; nuclear power – prayer can still diffuse it, because God is All Powerful. It is by praying that we bring God’s greatness and power into any situation. Therefore prayer :
• Has the same power to build as it has to tear down.
• Is not confined to time or space
• Is not regulated by man-made laws
• Is not restricted by geography, cultures, language, or age
• It does not depend on our gender, strength, intelligence or abilities.
All it requires is our obedience to pray.
It reminds me of a couple of occasions when I found myself prompted to pray for someone on the other side of the world, without knowing anything about their situation at that time, and finding out years later that on those dates and times it saved a marriage, and another had been in childbirth. I didn’t know details to pray specifically, I didn’t know exactly what was happening; all I sensed was an urgency to pray for them. I learnt that God could and needed my prayer to touch people’s lives.
So now I find myself praying for people I haven’t yet met, for situations that I know nothing about but know that my obedience to pray can bring others peace, healing, food, comfort and so much more. It can even save lives.
1 Timothy 2:1 I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. 2 Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. 3 This is good and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.
